Thank you Lars Jansen for showing us your amazing 3D printed nucleosome during this morning’s lectures It was really inspiring to hear the story of how Karolin Luger solved a high resolution structure after so many years of trying 3D printing is such a great tool for teaching!

Very generous 3-day visit by Nicolas Altemose to our lab at Department of Biochemistry at Oxford University this week to teach us new long-read sequencing approaches. Wonderful to see Ben Carty hands-on DiMeLo-ing with the master. Nick has been tremendously collegial. Good luck setting up at Stanford University!

New paper alert! A newer area of research from the Lars Jansen revolves around understanding the mechanisms of establishing and maintaining transcriptional memory. Some exciting discoveries on the way for the lab! embopress.org/doi/full/10.15…

How do cells remember the past? We discovered that the transcription factor STAT1 induces a mitotically stable #TranscriptionalMemory to exposure to interferon, priming cells to future encounters with the cytokine. Check out this fascinating phenomenon! embopress.org/doi/full/10.15…

Our up-to-date overview of what we know (and a lot of what we don’t know!) about transcriptional memory. Fascinating topic. More research from our group to come soon! Teamwork of Sahar tehrani, @AnutaKogan and Pawel Mikulski. nature.com/articles/s4141…

A new chapter in our quest to understand long-term transcriptional memory! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… A unique chromatin signature remembers past gene activation for multiple cell doublings without the signal. Fascinating work by Pawel Mikulski and our team!

My wife & soulmate Ana Domingos published another fantastic story, this time in nature with her terrific student, Peter Yitao Zhu, et al, discovering NPY release from sympathetic neurons sustains thermogenic adipocytes controlling body weight, without changing food intake!
