Year 4 enjoyed the start of their DT sessions with learning about the history and style of some American staple foods. In yesterday’s lesson, the class had a go at making cornbread which they then loved tasting.

Year 4 continued their American themed cooking in DT with the preparation of coleslaw and ice-cream. Lots of cutting skills with knives learnt as the class learnt to peel, slice and chop the ingredients.

Year 4 enjoyed making from scratch vegetable fajitas with a side of homemade coleslaw, whilst learning about the influences of the Europeans on American food going back to the 17th Century.

Many congratulations to Y4 who have once again won the competition, organised by the Energy from Waste trip organisers, for using as little packaging as possible in their lunch boxes. Out of 17 schools who took part, St Andrews came first with only 400g of waste produced.
