Putting wealth over health - ⁦Kieran Lucia⁩ examines the reasons for the relatively low profile given to the NHS in Labour’s manifesto. Plus I argue that the lesson of 1997 is that the manifesto is the wrong place to look for radicalism on health inizioevoke.com/latest/article…

Taylor’s Election Era is here and there’s something for everyone. Rishi can dream of gaping Back to December (2019). Keir can move his feet to Change, whilst Ed can hope the voters don’t hum I forgot you existed #TaylorSwiftErasTourLondon

Gosh the BBC are running out of steam. Carol Kirkwood: “it was a lot cooler in 2019 when Boris Johnson was voted in, but then again it was December.” Penetrating analysis.

According to ⁦Lord Ashcroft⁩ after the vote poll, 75% of Labour voters yesterday expect NHS waiting lists to get shorter. Time to get to work Labour. Voters have high expectations and little patience. inizioevoke.com/latest/article…

Today we are seeing a lot of very dignified statements from people who must feel very bruised and disappointed. ⬇️ is a case on point. Well done Shama Tatler - you’ll be back.

Hermer, Vallance and Timpaon appointments have echoes of Gordon Brown’s ‘Government of All the Talents’ 🐐🐐🐐(mercifully without Digby Jones)

Kinnock at Health will be interesting. Certainly seen as an articulate, competent technocrat. The return of Karin Smyth is good news. I hope she has the portfolio for NHS reform, as in opposition.

This is a massive job. Constitution (so presumably Lords reform and devolution stuff) and relations with EU (intriguing that this brief isn’t in Foreign Office)

Mike Birtwistle (@mbirty) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I wouldn’t be cautious about ruling out stuff that runs completely counter to your values. Yes, we need a fresh look and yes we need to be clear and transparent about the mess the NHS is in, but that doesn’t mean abandoning core beliefs or indeed the purpose of the NHS

Why the ‘broken’ mantra really matters. Me for ⁦Incisive Health⁩ on why ⁦Wes Streeting MP⁩ is starting an argument with the NHS about the need for change linkedin.com/posts/mikebirt…
