After rewatching NOPE… It’s a fucking masterpiece. I’m stumped to think of another recent major theatrical release as broadly entertaining, that draws on so many familiar cinematic tropes while also managing to be wildly idiosyncratic & consistently, deeply strange. I love it.

I managed to avoid Try That In a Small Town until right now. Someone skipped Journey to play it on a jukebox. It IS a dangerous, pandering, right-wing dog whistle. And as a lifelong country music fan: it is ALSO an objectively generic boring, butt-rock, terrible fucking song.

This fucking site, to which I have dedicated a decade+ of experience & artistic & personal connection, makes no sense to me anymore. I’ll cling to it til a doctor insists I quit for the sake of my health; but it may be the first drug I recognize on my own has run its fun course.
