My 1st speech at the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee. I have chose to go on this committee because of a failure of market surveillance in Ireland, which has led to the defective concrete crisis. 100% Redress, No Less.

In 2023; of the 32,695 homes built, only 27% were sold on the market. In Dublin City, 94% of all new housing was apartments (98% for rent or social, just 2% for sale). Since 2017, new housing coming to the market for sale is down 48%. So much for the party of homeownership 🫠

This is the kind of representation we need in the EU. Thank you Luke 'Ming' Flanagan because Ireland's failed market surveillance has let down citizens badly and it is great you are keeping the defective concrete scandal at the center of the debate in the EU
