When Wall Street violates the law, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission can pursue fines—which are often a drop in the bucket for ultra-wealthy bankers. We need guardrails that actually discourage wrongdoing, not make it the cost of doing business. My SEC Penalties Act would increase the penalty amounts.
