Angiosperm stomata do not respond continuously to rising VPD but often start to close only once a threshold VPD is crossed. We found that this is linked to the triggering of abscisic acid biosynthesis at the threshold VPD, which then closes the stomata academic.oup.com/plphys/advance…
We have found that abscisic acid biosynthesis is deactivated under long-term drought in species that have evolved highly embolism resistant xylem, this causes the peaking-type ABA dynamic onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/pc… Congratulations Joel A. Mercado Reyes!!
Congrats to Cade Kane from Purdue BPP on a successfully defense! He is the 1st PhD student from the McAdam lab (McAdam lab)!! He’s already published a few chapters & is gearing up to submit the last two before he “leaves” us for his postdoc in Jan!
Plants, like conifers & tough angiosperms, use a clever ABA strategy in drought: ABA rises, then declines. 📈📉 In Callitris rhomboidea & Umbellularia californica, ABA production stops, forming conjugates. Read more here ⤵️ onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11… Wiley Plant Science #OpenAccess
The journey of organizing the 6th ´Xylem International Meeting´ (#XIM6) has officially begun in Seville, Spain! ☀️ Stay tuned to Xylem Int. Meeting for updates🗓️
This study was carried out during my fruitful stay at Purdue University Purdue Agriculture in McAdam lab laboratory, where he has a long list of very interesting plant specimens. I could explain more, but I don't want to give you spoilers!!! Run and read it! :)
