Back to UCD Lyons Farm today direct drilling herbs into multi species swards. Also went taking a look at some direct drilled redstart, multi species swards drilled back in early April . see below

Animals on the MSS have consistently out performed their counterparts on perennial ryegrass. We've rejuvenated the herb content of the sward over the last 12 months by stitching in after silage. 50% of the area last year and the other 50% this year. Now 🌧 🕺 time

Also cattle on MSS slaughtered 5 to 6 weeks earlier, so lower concentrare input during the finishing phase too.

Since we started our work on the UCD Lyons Farm long term grazing platform ABPDemoFarm have been our partner rearing calves and supporter of the research program. These cattle are reaching slaughter around 20.5 months at 315 kg carcass weight
