BREAKING: New watershed_investigations and ENDS Report film on PFAS forever chemical pollution in rivers around the UK is live now. HIGH/LOWLIGHTS: Carcinogen loads in the Mersey among highest recorded in the world. High concentrations dumped into Wyre. Watch: endsreport.com/toxic
‘Toxic’, the new ENDS Report and watershed_investigations documentary, is as alarming as it is important. #PFAS are called ‘forever chemicals’ for a reason and the harm they do can last thousands of years – and we don’t have time to waste. Watch it here: endsreport.com/toxic
We join Fidra Wildlife and Countryside Link Chemical Industries Association and Chemical Business Association to call for #ChemicalsStrategy clarity. UK Prime Minister must act now to tackle chemical pollution, grow a circular economy, upskill the next generation and become a true science superpower rsc.li/48TZOso
EXCLUSIVE: 8 months of work, and my story exposing how the small town of Bentham in North Yorkshire became the most PFAS polluted place in the country is now live Read the news story in the The Guardian and the full two-part investigation in ENDS Report theguardian.com/environment/ar…
On the BBC we’re calling for a national Chemicals Agency. Prof Gillian Reid, President Royal Society of Chemistry: “The current regulatory regime for chemicals in the UK is not fit-for-purpose, failing to support innovation or protect our waterways, soil, air & built environment” #NoTimeToWaste
The next government should establish a national Chemicals Agency to address 'fragmentation and confusion' under the UK's current chemicals regulatory systems, a report by Royal Society of Chemistry has recommended ⬇️ endsreport.com/article/187579…

Really important investigation from watershed_investigations. This is why at the Royal Society of Chemistry we have been calling on government to lower the allowable limit of each individual PFAS in drinking water to 10ng/L, and add a cumulative limit of 100ng/L, to protect human health. #cleanupPFAS
UK politicians test positive for ‘forever chemicals’ in their system. Stark results in Wildlife and Countryside Link investigation reinforce our calls for a dedicated national Chemicals Agency to overhaul the UK's broken chemicals regulation #NoTimeToWaste Read more: rsc.li/agency
An important story powerfully told in the new series of Buried, focusing on #ForeverChemicals. We supported the testing conducted in the making of the new series, led by Manchester Metropolitan Uni's David Megson, from our Environmental Policy Group, and featuring Royal Society of Chemistry's own Stephanie Metzger
Our resident #ForeverChemicals policy expert Stephanie Metzger contributed to #Buried to highlight just how many chemicals need monitoring and regulating, and the lack of capacity in the UK to deal with this effectively. Read more bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
NEW: Official inquiry/investigation confirmed in Cheshire due to Buried: The Last Witness with BBC Radio 4 Royal Society of Chemistry Manchester Metropolitan Uni. Cheshire West council has set up a cross-party task group, public hearings + witness evidence. They will file a report within 6 months.
