Actors! Who are your favourite workshop/class providers? Who are safe, supportive, and have a focus on the CRAFT and continued training of professional actors, not just casting director or agent meets/q&a’s. Looking for some places I can feel confident in recommending to others!

It’s really important to know what’s going on in the biz elsewhere. While this is North American insight, what’s happening has a knock on effect to the UK industry. And much of the struggles are shared by creatives all over the world.

When contacting CD’s… 1) DO be specific about who you are emailing and why 2) DO have something to say 3) DON’T be entitled 4) DON’T send hundreds of emails just to see what sticks 5) DON’T email just because someone else has told you you must 6) DON’T tag/hound on social media

Branding, marketing, CD/agent emails, self tape/audition support, industry insight, and help building your CV does NOT have to cost you an arm and a leg. There is so much info out there for free, and services from people whose best interests are YOU, not their pockets.

Listen, nothing in this industry is guaranteed but when you see a course that heavily implies it can give you your first tv credit but at the cost of £1000, really have a think about it. As actors we already fork out thousands on Spotlight/headshots…

👇🏻Language matters. I remember learning about the change of this term and how obvious it seemed but I had never thought about it before. Those who take their life don’t “commit” anything, and don’t deserve the negative connotations.

Been hearing that some actors are turning down theatre contracts to “be available for TV”, or wanting to pivot from stage to “focus on TV opportunities”. Are the TV opportunities in the room with us?! 🤣 There may be some stuff still going on, but the industry is struggling!
