Hear some new music from Iceland to celebrate our descent into winter by cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir (via figureight records), María Huld' (amiina) for chamber group Nordic Affect (via Sono Luminus), and Daníel Bjarnason's 'Collider' (via Bedroom Community.) bit.ly/2ON1Qqa

What does volcanic activity sound like in the music of Sigur Rós? And how does this relate to a cultural history of living with volcanoes in Iceland? My talk: «Sounding the Anthropocene From Iceland: Musical Style and the Geosocial» at #SEM_2018 on Friday! #ecomusicology

Ok-glacier is no longer a glacier. The first of many Iceland will lose to climate change. I made the text for this plaque with a letter to the future with ⒹⓞⓜⓘⓝⓘⓒⒷⓞⓨⓔⓡ, Cymene Howe, Rice University and Oddur Sigurðsson geologist, to be placed where the glacier was.

My new article on Sigur Rós and volcanoes is deadly serious. Read how music expresses the turbulence of living with geological forces in the #anthropocene. Open access with Media, Cultural and Communication Studies #envhum tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

10-year anniversary of this great album, the focal point of one of the chapters in my book! How does this musical-volcanic apocalypse reflect the Anthropocene experience, you ask? Well have a read weslpress.org/9780819500496/…
