Sarver Heart Center enrolled its 1st patient into the COSIRA II study this week. Led by Michel Corban, MD & colleagues at Banner University Medical Center-Tucson, the goal of the study is to determine if treatment will reverse myocardial ischemia & reduce reliance on medication.

SHC member Mathew Hutchinson, MD performed the first procedure with Farapulse Pulsed Field Ablation System, a new, clinically proven ablation technology used to treat Afib. Banner University Medical Center—Tucson will be the first non-trial site in the Western U.S. to provide it.

In a new study by SHC Director Hesham Sadek, MD, PhD, and colleagues, adducin was manipulated to create morphological changes during cardiomyocyte mitosis. Findings could inform new treatments for heart disease via regeneration of damaged heart tissue. bit.ly/3wnvtFO
