A cache of freedom of information responses on interactions between GMC, HEIW and others regarding Medical Associate Professionals. A vital read that justifies many doctor concerns about this. Diolch to those who did the work. paprojectwatch.wordpress.com/wp-content/upl… Some highlights 🧵 1/

Thank heavens for Laura Kuenssberg’s asinine BBC blurbs ahead of her usual weekly unbiased Sunday morning sessions, or I wouldn’t have known it was Saturday!

Sorry but is this meant to be critical of Harris? Cause all I’m seeing are snowflake staffers who need to wake up and smell the coffee. Honestly.

Serious question: in reducing anaesthesia to ‘blowing gas down a hole’ is Nick diminishing the importance of tacit knowledge and expertise acquired over decades of deliberate practice? Or is the argument that 99.9% of the time, that tacit knowledge does not factor into outcomes?

Nicholas Chrimes (@nicholaschrimes) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Jan Hansel Let's be clear: 1. I'm talking about airway management, not anaesthesia. 2. I'm saying the principles are simple, not that we aren't highly technically skilled.

Nicholas Chrimes (@nicholaschrimes) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Jan Hansel Most avoidable airway crises occur bc the basic principles were violated. There's lots of complex reasons for this incl cognitive issues of bias, overload, etc But don't make a conscious decision not to abide by the rules bc you believe your expertise puts you above them.

Kuenssberg RAGING, almost TEARFUL, over Grenfell: "It's been SEVEN YEARS, Prime Minister!" LK was BBC Political Editor for 5 of those ofc, then in charge of the flagship Sunday programe for 2. Here is a short thread of every time she pressed the Tory gov't as hard on this. 1/1

Dear Daniele Bryden FICMNews This recent article was brought to my attention by sad, angry & senior resident ICU doctors Adjacent is a reply of what one thought but didn’t want to say in public They were very happy for a consultant colleague to speak for them though 🧵

It’s widely thought that FICM’s desire to create their own fiefdom away from Royal College of Anaesthetists , but without the requisite medical workforce to do so, is driving much of this substitution rhetoric but like everything else this isn’t considered polite public conversation

Jan Hansel (@virtueofnothing) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Important thread. Who is an actual expert (no quotation marks) in ICM, if not an ICM consultant or post CCT fellow etc? This comes as a string of identity crises from FICMNews Remember ‘what is the scope of an intensivist?’ Will establishing a College solve this? Not sure…

Slow night for med reg jobs so decided to attach myself to the F1 on ward cover. Surprisingly fun fielding F1 jobs again. Like going back to a Level 10 area when you're Level 60 and just one-shotting everything that used to cause you so much grief.
