Shocking: The Czech Olympic Committee is officially asking olympiads for high school students (math, physics, chemistry, etc) to stop using the term “Olympiad”. Shame on you Czech Olympic Committee!

I see this very clearly as well. The community is shooting itself in the back because this discourages deep research into problems of high interest and encourages a proliferation of often pseudo-interesting research questions that no one cares to gatekeep.

They made it official, so I guess it really must be true - my ERC starting grant was accepted! This project was also a product of the many conversations I have had with friends, colleagues and the wonderful SISSA students over the last years -- thank you all so much 😃🙏
