Asian American Scholar Forum provided a national voice and brought our Asian American scholar community to the U.S. Capitol to share their stories with Congress on the harms of the China Initiative. We thank CAPAC for working to advance the rights of our community. The fight is not over.

The rhetoric "China Virus" incited Asian-Hate in American streets. The program "China Initiative" incited racial profiling on American campuses. Stop these harebrained ideas!

Undergraduate Engineering Thermodynamics is centered on thermomechanical processes. This focus connects to the root of thermodynamics, but has become increasingly difficult to motivate as green energy rises. Thoughts?

I attended a Scialog meeting at Tuscon from 9/4 to 9/7, where I met fantastic colleagues and leaders in the field of sustainable materials. From 7 AM to 10 PM, we ceaselessly discussed what we can do for our society and derived many interesting ideas!

When I was a college student, in China, in the early 1980s, the writings of Thoreau made a deep impression on me. “I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life,…”

When Suo Duo were young, I learned at recitals and children play piano from memory, without looking at sheet music. This gives me the idea to lecture without notes. I prepare notes carefully. Lecturing without notes keeps me focused on students and ideas.

Going through lecture notes on moist air and see this sentence: Humans feel comfortable at a temperature from 22 °C to 27 °C (72 F to 80 F) and a relative humidity from 40% to 60%. I looked at the Weather App. The day has reached perfection: 76 F and 56%.

A young academic told me--with a smile--that he had an epiphany: Academic jobs are bad enough that he is no longer worried about not getting tenure. Is the feeling common?
