I would love to see a study of how much additional traffic (and pollution) is created by the CPS “choice” system. The way to cut down on drop off traffic isn’t busses, it’s high quality neighborhood schools that kids can walk to

Last week, The Network and WINGS program hosted Mayor Brandon Johnson & Alderwoman Jeylú B. Gutiérrez for a roundtable with survivors of gender-based violence. We are thankful to Mayor Johnson and Alderwoman Gutiérrez for their empathy and attention and to WINGS Program, Inc for their partnership!

Now we all know if these numbers were up, I’d be asked if ending cash bail was the cause. But numbers are down after we ended cash bail. The end of the world didn’t happen. Anyway, like I’ve said before American public safety policy is vibes driven not results driven.

The "modest improvement" here is a city homicide number that down by nearly a third from Chicago's 2021 peak. It's also odd to describe as homicides "outpac[ing] pre-pandemic levels" when the 2024 summer homicide number is actually lower than the 5-year pre-COVID average.
