Trump's lawyer told Justice Amy Coney Barrett that the only way a President could be prosecuted for ordering a coup is if there was a law which specifically made it illegal for a President to order a coup.

For those who missed today's Supreme Court arguments. Justice Sotomayor asked Trump's lawyer what would happen if a President ordered the assassination of a political rival. The answer - a President should be immune from prosecution.

If you figured that the U.S. Supreme Court would deal with arguments in Trump v. United States sort of like the way the Justices dealt with United States v. Nixon in 1974 (8-0 on the Watergate tapes), you would be very wrong.
