Another data point to suggest that money doesn't necessarily buy a seat, although I'm sure #Hawaii media outlets and consultants appreciate the bank. rollcall.com/2022/08/14/pro…

One of the quirkier takes on the life of #MikhailGorbachev came from -- who else? -- #WernerHerzog. We discussed his 2019 documentary on the Soviet leader in one of my favorite Roll Call Political Theater podcasts. rollcall.com/podcasts/polit…

I’m pulling for the Phillies because I’m still salty about 2017. But if Houston wins, I’ll be very happy for Dusty Baker, one of baseball’s best people. The day I interviewed him, he’d been hunting. I asked how it went. “Man, I couldn’t hit shit.” And we were off. A great guy.

Dr. King was assassinated on this day in 1968. The day is almost done. But it was important to me to reflect in the quiet of the night on his legacy and his example, his ideas - the faith in politics, not violence - Dr. King’s legacy for generations of all Americans.

One of the advantages of 70s life is we got exposed to a wider cross section of culture. You couldn’t just bury your head in your favorite shit. You had to watch Hee Haw sometimes. And then you realized Roy and Buck were bad motherfuckers and your horizons expanded. It was good.
