Here is Clay Helton’s full opening statement from Monday’s press conference, coming off the Eagles' 20-17 win over Nevada. Georgia Southern is a very confident football team right now, and I'm eager to share some of what we heard today.

Georgia Southern has been saying it since the start of camp - this team is as close as they come. Josh Dallas shared his thoughts on what it's like being part of a program that leans on one another so much. He also gave props to JC French's ability to embody that as QB1.

"It is a battle of being able to progress against human nature." Georgia Southern began its season with two thrillers. SC State (FCS) comes to Statesboro this Saturday. Clay Helton explains why this one is just as challenging mentally to make sure they progress the right way.
