Thanks for a v inspiring event today at @MUD_CIC in Platt Fields Park, organisers Patagonia Manchester & Right to Roam with superb speakers Dr Amy-Jane Beer & Dal Kular. #WildService book is a chorus of voices building 'a new culture that returns nature to the very heart of society”
'a major part of the problem with the English concept of nature is that we tend to view it as a world separate from our own lives [...] a venue for recreation, a temporary respite from the real world, not an essential, indivisible part of us.' - Caroline Lucas
Don't miss our next book club⤵️
Nadia Shaikh, R2R director, ornithologist and author of the chapter Recommoning, will be joined by Lucy Lapwing , a self proclaimed nature nerd, who lives to tell the world about how amazing the nature closest to you is.

Love that this (excellent) video on rampant wealth inequality from Gary Stevenson was immediately followed by a YouTube ad from a landlord flogging his course explaining how to immiserate tenants, exploit systemic precarity & dodge taxes while you do it.

Environmental law & regulatory bodies who are supposed to enforce it have clearly failed & few case studies illustrate this better than tragic story of Hoad’s Wood in Kent. Here’s my piece on why we need a Rights of Nature & Guardianship approach instead

The best birthdays involve a brilliant #book , a new mug and an afternoon with birds in my little yarden. I knew I had seen the book cover before too - Green Man, meet Green Man.👏 Thanks Right to Roam for a most wonderful #WildService book.🙏📚❤️🌏 #whynatureneedsyou #book wilding
#WildService is such an inspiring book, a chorus of voices building 'a new culture that returns nature to the very heart of society, by restoring communities to the beating heart of the natural world.' There's Nadia Shaikh on recommoning, Guy Shrubsole on stewardship & more!
This is where the King Charles III England Coast Path should go through Osborne, not inland on a busy A road. Come to the IoW Ramblers' rally tomorrow iowramblers.com @ramblergb Kate Conto Open Spaces Society English Heritage
Jon Moses Welsh Government Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru | Natural Resources Wales Thanks Jon. You’ve nailed it. It’s galling, to say the least. Countless volunteer hours went into surveying this popular bathing area and submitting an application. This is such a demoralising response.
It really is the most extraordinary disgrace that Welsh Government / Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru | Natural Resources Wales would 1) not only fail to protect the Wye 2) not only dismiss the attempts of ordinary people to rectify the damage 3) but to *JUSTIFY* their dismissal by implying those very people are the problem.
