🔔New paper❗️ Treelines in the U.S. Northeast shifted upslope by 3 m/decade on average w/climate warming. Treeline form, topography, & mesoclimate affected the magnitude of the shift! Kudos to Jordon Tourville for this PhD work SUNY ESF w/Appalachian Mtn Club! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111…
🔔Now printed w/cover photo❗️😀"Forests on the move: Tracking climate-related treeline changes in mountains..." Spoiler: The mean treeline shift up was 3 m/decade, varying w/treeline form, topo & mesoclimate! Kudos to Jordon Tourville SUNY ESF Appalachian Mtn Club onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jb…
AMC Research Fellow Jordon Tourville was featured in The New York Times! Check out this article highlighting backcountry skiing, changing winters, and ‘weather whiplash’ events across the Northeast: nytimes.com/2024/01/19/tra…
I’m happy to share that after finishing my PhD UW–Madison I’ll be heading back to my alma mater SUNY ESF as a post-doc to explore limitations to tree species migrations on mountains in the northeastern US! Very excited to work w/ Martin Dovciak🌱🌻🌳 and Northern Research for the next few years
Happy to share this new Review Paper from some of my work with the awesome #BIOSHIFTS working group. Mechanisms, detection and impacts of species redistributions under climate change, out today in Nature Reviews Earth & Environment 🌈 rdcu.be/dE6iT 🧵
👏Big thanks World Biodiversity Forum for a wonderful time in Davos. It was great to give a talk on monitoring climate & plants across montane temperate-boreal ecotones in eastern US & to enjoy many presentations & discussions. Looking forward to WBF 2026!
