It's baffling to me that CPS & Met Police didn't think they should announce publicly that Huw Edwards had been charged when it happened on June 26. For nearly 5 weeks, the existence of a pending criminal case of this high interest was kept secret.

Not sure this is the BBC scandal it seems as employers can’t automatically sack someone who’s been arrested. And editorially, naming Edwards before a charging decision could have brought another Cliff Richard-style payout

🚨 NEW: Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley grabs a journalist's microphone when asked "Are you going to end two-tier policing?" while leaving the emergency Cobra meeting

Some credit to Mark Rowley for his Metropolitan Police apology, but the mic incident underscores a feeling he finds the media a bit irritating (Today prog aside). For all her faults, Dame Cressida was more willing to be challenged (even by those who don’t work at Broadcasting House)

BREAKING: CPS said it is discontinuing two indecent assault charges brought against Harvey Weinstein in 2022 because “there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction”.

Having just watched this at the inquest, there may be serious questions over whether the coroner was right to release this footage publicly. It is agonising to watch Steve Dymond in so much distress, regardless of the conclusions still to be reached.
