Lots going on in my world the last few weeks. Unexpectedly moving out. Getting ready for Burning Man. Bonsai. Some work on the Vision Pro app my friend and I are building. Dogsitting former foster puppy. And much more. Always forward, never straight, keep on walking.

I built Sankalpa because Yoga Nidra had helped me fix my insomnia & reduce my “baseline anxiety of existing”. On January 1st 2023, I didn’t know how to program. Now I use my own app to make my own customized meditation scripts a few times a week. So cool! apps.apple.com/us/app/sankalp…

Packing up and leaving for Burning Man today. I’ll be out there 2 weeks total since I’m leading build and breakdown for my camp. 🐸➡️)'(

I love speculating about the Fermi paradox as much as the next nerd. But, the best answer is simply that the idea that there even is a paradox is based on bad assumptions.

I hit the OpenAI rate limit for the 01 preview but it got me about 90% of the way to a simple iOS app that uses the Spotify APIs to create playlists based on a selection of the user’s Liked Songs. GPT-4o took me the last 10%. Here’s a playlist it made: open.spotify.com/playlist/5Rx8g…

I spent another couple hours last night on this. I added a function (still buggy) to send the entire Spotify Liked Songs list to OpenAI 4o-mini and get a list of 50 new songs, look up their URIs, then create a new "Likely Listens" playlist. Maybe I'll make an MVP and launch it.

No longer buggy. The GPT-4o-mini suggested playlists have been pretty decent actually. I think with a little prompt work I can get even better playlists.

Over the last two years my life has been so filled with the unexpected, the path so circuitous… and the last two months certainly are no exception. If I ever write a memoir, these chapters will be absolute page turners.

Last night I listened to the second episode of Deployed: The AI Product Podcast that Ian Cairns recently started. This episode with Mike Conover had a number of nuggets that made me hit the skip back button to listen again. Check it out. freeplay.ai/blog/building-…

I created this playlist using an app I'm making. One way it works is by getting my Liked Songs from Spotify and then sending them to gpt-4o-mini and getting a list of 50 "Likely Listens", then looks up the track on spotify and creates a playlist. Enjoy! open.spotify.com/playlist/7edpO…
