Blackleg in canola can cause yield and quality losses, impact profitability and may create a market risk. Pre-harvest scouting is the best time to check the effectiveness of your blackleg management plan. Learn more 👉 bit.ly/3VZwCgN #SustainableCdnAg #Canola

U of Guelph are always looking for clubroot samples. Reach out if you have any fields they can sample, or samples to submit. I believe they have plans to travel north this fall, but are also interest in sampling within a couple hours drive of Guelph. #canola #clubroot

Now’s the time to #scout diseases in #canola. Clean looking white stems inside with green exterior is the hoped for outcome from scouting! Look for #blackeg, #clubroot, sclerotinia, or verticillium stripe on the same field visit this fall. #nothingbeatsbootsinthefield

I had the opportunity to connect with Ian Epp of the Canola Council of Canada. Among the many things that we discussed was the importance of scouting during harvest time! Check out this RealAgriculture Canola School for more info! youtu.be/2srODYtXrU8?si… #agronomy #canola #harvest2024

More reports this year of high levels of blackleg on canola in the western Prairies - more than previous years. The complication is that verticillium stripe produces symptoms that are similar to blackleg. Can you differentiate between blackleg and verticillium stripe symptoms?

‘Tis the season of disease sampling! If you’re wondering how to submit verticillium or blackleg samples, follow along as I prep a sample for PSI labs! CW Jay Whetter Canola Council of Canada

Looking at an R rated cultivar with high levels of blackleg today. Before and after cut stem photos. Unfortunately resistance is not working in this field for this race of blackleg. Encourage canola growers to cut stems to measure yield loss with this: canolacouncil.org/calculator/bla…

Did you know? This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first registered canola variety. Dr. Baldur Stefansson of uManitoba Research developed the first low erucic acid, low glucosinolate cultivar, Tower, in 1974. #DailySeedHistory #WestCdnAg University of Manitoba

Are you losing yield due to canola diseases? Here's my attempt at making a how-to blackleg rating video. Special thanks to Breanna Breanna Miller for the editing. #westcdnag #canola #blackleg
