In my survey study of anesthesia applicants from #Match2024 w/ Tricia Pendergrast, MD and Jed Wolpaw (he/him/his), 23 unmatched applicants had a mean USMLE Step 2 score of 245 and 117 matched applicants had a mean score of 252. The goalposts are moving #Match2025
As previously discussed, the overall number of applications to #AnesMatch remained stable between 2023 and 2024. I shared my suspicions on our ACCRAC Podcast that fewer applicants are dual applying to ENT/Ortho with Anes as a backup because we are no longer "safe" enough.
