Karen Berger 5. In 1980, JMD was given the opportunity to be DC editor Len Wein’s assistant. At the same time, Jim Shooter offered JMD a freelance contract Marvel Entertainment. JM had just become a father & opted for the freelance contract so he could work from home & help raise his son. 5/23
