Nearly the end of a joyously busy week, with lots of school sessions and uni group visits being inspired by Keats House Museum and garden. If you wannabe a #poet like #Keats, here’s two great opportunities from our friends The Poetry Society, one of which is particularly for #Camden youth.
We are taking part in the #GrimwoodMuseumAdventure from Kids in Museums and Simon & Schuster Children's Books this summer holiday! From this Sunday you can embark on a brilliantly bonkers trail at Keats House. Find out more at kidsinmuseums.org.uk/grimwood-museu… Nadia Shireen Art Fund
The next character from our #HiddenHistories exhibition is Fanny Brawne. She lived at the house from 1818-1830 and had a zest for life, enjoying fashion, singing, dancing and reading. Unfortunately her years Keats House Museum were marred by loss - of her fiance, mother and brother.
Fanny Brawne’s mother and brother also feature in our #HiddenHistories exhibition. They both met premature ends while living Keats House Museum - her mother when her dress caught fire, and her 23 year old brother Sam (pictured) from consumption, the same disease that killed Keats.
On 3 October is our next Late Night Keats event, where we will delve into the lives of the women who lived Keats House Museum in the past, including Miss Chester (pictured). Expect performance, tours, a talk, crafts and mocktails! Book via eventbrite.co.uk/e/late-night-k… #thingstodo
Not only has Keats House Museum had human inhabitants, but plenty of animals have lived here too, including Fanny Brawne's pouter pigeons (like the one pictured!). They didn't always do too well: 'the cats have taken Primrose'. Visit the #HiddenHistories exhibition to find out more!
