Kids don't like making mistakes because we've made them negative. If no one ever made mistakes, then no one would ever learn anything. Mistakes aren't "bad." What is bad is how kids feel when they make them. We need to flip that.

One of my favorite hands-on activities: ranking. Take any list or set of examples that you were going to project and instead print it off, cut the options out individually and paper clip them for each group—then have them rank + explain top/bottom ranking. Worth it.
