Hey there everyone ! I’m Kevin, and I’ve been a bartender at Tabu for over 5 years. In this post I am addressing both Tabu and all of the folks who are rightfully angry.

1. Of course it’s backpedaling! That’s what you do when you do something wrong and try to correct it, so obviously you can call them out for that. 2. Yes, this is largely a copy and paste response. Yknow who wrote the original? Me, in a reply-all. I take this very seriously.

3. I want you to know there are folks who ARE part of the establishment of Tabu, who advocate extremely hard for all of the performers, as well as radical systemic change. I love drag and burlesque, and imo, if you’re not making it political, you’re not doing drag.

4. I personally think that Tabu should continue to make sincere apologies, with words and actions. Bring that performer back, pay her, and I dunno maybe allow ticket sales for this show to go directly to the organization of the performers choice.

5.Let’s hold them accountable. Tabu is great, and there are also flaws — radical acceptance. I love Tabu. And I show love by speaking up when something is wrong, explaining why, and giving that person the opportunity to change. That is accountability, and that is love.

6. I respect all of you so much. I agree with this fight, and I am with you. If you still choose to boycott Tabu, I understand and I respect your decision. I still think it’s a great space, and rather than canceling, I’d like to give them a chance. That’s growth, that’s change.
