As August ends, you might notice cooler air temperatures throughout your stay at Killbear. Lucky for us, the water is still warm enough for an end-of-summer beach day! Due to water’s high heat capacity, the Bay can store thermal energy from the hot summer sun well into fall! 🏖️

Discover the Autumn meadowhawk dragonfly! These dragonflies are #AtHomeAtKillbear These striking creatures are among the last dragonflies to mature into adults in the park and typically remain until the first frost.

The fall migration has begun! A variety of songbirds will be passing through Killbear as they head south in the coming weeks. As a peninsula, Killbear provides an excellent stopover for birds seeking food and rest during their migratory journey🍂
