After six years of renovations, Brussels' Neptunium pool will reopen in September. Built in the 1950s, in the streamline modernist style, this is a great place to swim.

After getting used to the water at St, Johann, I did the Rhine 'swim' (heavily assisted by the current) from the Tinguely museum to Johanniterbrücke. Lovely to be in the water with all kinds of bathers. When I arrived in Basel, I was not sure about going in, but glad I did!

My first river swimming session in Basel took place at Rheinbad St. Johann, where both swimming within and outside of the barriers is possible. Nice way for me to get used to the current. They also offer showers, changing rooms and coffee.

In Riehen near Basel, they have an ecological swimming pond, similar to what we have in Antwerp. Yet their buildings are another level, designed by Herzog and De Meuron and emitting that lovely wooden sauna smell. Pond itself is small but nice and includes a diving area.

Unlike in Ostend, Blankenberge's brutalist seawater swimming pool is still in use today. Lovely morning swim at Noordzeebad.
