We (ok, Luke) have been tweaking the visualisation of the ensemble solar wind forecasts. Feedback welcome. Looks like we've got a storm a-brewing. research.reading.ac.uk/met-spate/huxt…

Calling all amateur astronomers - the University of Reading needs you! ☄️ A comet will be visible in the UK night sky for the next couple of weeks and our researchers need images to help improve forecasts of space weather. Get involved at rdg.ac/49GNXPy

The latest WSA-HUXt forecast suggests a fairly big and fast #CME is heading for Earth and will arrive early on the 11th. Potential for some #SpaceWeather. @mathewjowens.bsky.social Harriet Turner

Mother forking shirtballs, it's really kicking off at STEREO-A (which is a few hours ahead of Earth, in solar wind terms.) Total field ~80nT, with a lot of that southward, maybe -75 nT?!. This is going to be big when it reaches Earth. stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/beacon/beacon_…

My colleague Giles Harrison is running a new citizen science project on The Zooniverse to digitise historic atmospheric electricity measurements. The aim is to use these data to help understand #ClimateChange

Looks like there's a reasonably fast (~1000 km/s) and wide CME heading towards Earth. Predicted to arrive Wednesday. Should produce some moderate activity.

This thread is a worthwhile read for a deep dive into the reasons why #spaceweather forecasts can go right/wrong, and what we can do about it.
