We were sad to learn of the death of Louis Gossett Jr., who took part in the 2013 Louisiana Book Festival. Everyone who met him seemed to remember him the same way: a very nice person. He was more than gracious in taking the time to speak to attendees and pose for pictures.

Join Mona Saloy, outgoing Louisiana Poet Laureate, at the Main Library at Goodwood tomorrow at 10 a.m. Her presentation will include poetry readings from her latest collection, Red Beans and Ricely Yours, followed by a book signing.

Congratulations to Jane Wolfe, recipient of the 2024 Light Up for Literacy Award from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, presented in partnership with the Louisiana Center for the Book in the State Library of Louisiana. Her Eat and Read at Melba’s program has given away more than 20,000 books!
