In the ministerial meeting in Paris on Sudan, member states and international organizations stressed the need for enhanced mediation coordination. I salute the action-oriented Declaration of Principles and look forward to working with partners towards its implementation.

In the sad anniversary of the outbreak of the fratricidal war in Sudan, the intl. community came strongly in support of the too many victims of this tragedy.More than €2bn of humanitarian assistance were pledged and a powerful call for an immediate ceasefire was reiterated.

At the AUPSC today, I highlighted the long-standing partnership history b/w AU & UN on Sudan with meaningful achievements to build on and develop a powerful response to the call of Sudanese people.The war in Sudan entered its 2nd year & we cannot afford to let it last any longer!

In N’Djamena,I sought the views & advice of the Chadian authorities on peacemaking in Sudan,Chad being a neighbor to Sudan & host to increasing nbr. of refugees.I Agreed W/ Foreign Minister MSA to continue our interactions to promote the well-being of Sudan and neighbors

I had a rich exchange of views in Addis Ababa w/ Moussa Faki Mahamat on peacemaking in Sudan. We stressed the need for unity of purpose within enhanced mediation coordination involving key international actors & highlighted the promising role of recently appointed AU High Level Panel

I had constructive interaction with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Taye Atske Selassie on peace-making in Sudan. We underlined the key contribution of regional & international organisations as well as neighbouring countries towards peace in Sudan & stability in the region.

I was privileged to take part in AU-IGAD-UN meeting with the participation of the Chair & members of AU High Level Panel & a senior representative of IGAD.We extensively exchanged on important activities pertaining to enhancing mediation coordination towards peacemaking in Sudan

I was honoured to brief EU Foreign Affairs Council chaired by Josep Borrell Fontelles . I appreciated the generosity of EU & its Member States through their pledges for Sudan & neighbouring countries in the Paris Conference. Time is now for breakthrough in the peace-making process.

It was a great privilege to pay a courtesy visit today to H.E. the President of Ethiopia Office of the President, Ethiopia Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde who gave me a warm reception.

I finalised my consultations in Addis Ababa w/ Ambassador of Mauritania Khadijetou Mbarack Fall as Representative of current President of the African Union. We reviewed the situation in Sudan & stressed the need for enhanced concerted efforts towards breakthrough in peace-making.

I was honoured to meet H.E. President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki who shared with me his vision of the peace-making in Sudan. He expressed strong support to the efforts of the UN Secretary General and to the role of his Personal Envoy.

Happy Africa Day to All

I concluded a working visit to Port Sudan with a susbtantive meeting with General Al-Burhan on top of other meetings with senior officials. The discussion focused on the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation, in particular in El Fasher.

I met in Nairobi a delegation representing the Rapid Support Forces. We discussed the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation, in particular in El Fasher, as well as ways and means to promote protection of civilians and to enhance efforts in the peace-making process.

I was pleased to take part in the timely & productive meeting hosted & chaired by جامعة الدول العربية SG Ahmed Aboul Gheit. International actors involved in peace-making in Sudan agreed on enhancing coordination in helping the conflicting parties to reach a peaceful solution.

I concluded today the “proximity talks” that I convened in Geneva with delegations of the Sudan warring parties. I thank them for their willingness to engage. It's an encouraging initial step in a longer process toward enhanced humanitarian access and protection of civilians.

I was pleased to take part in the 2nd Consultative Group Meeting on Sudan hosted by Djibouti. International actors sponsoring peace initiatives reaffirmed commitment to intensify coordination of their efforts & revitalize a multilateral approach for peacemaking in Sudan.

I’m currently having a useful opportunity to contribute to timely discussions within an ad-hoc meeting on Sudan co-hosted by USA, KSA, Switzerland. My inputs as an observer stem from my broader mission in complementing & coordinating intl. efforts towards peacemaking in Sudan.
