People in #Melbourne have been feeling #earthquakes lately, but does that mean the rate of events is increasing? Are earthquakes getting larger or closer to the population? Or are people remembering and noticing them more since the magnitude 5.9 that everyone felt in 2021?

Never get tired of looking at cell division. I never used to appreciate how cool chromosome condensation is, possibly because we spoke about it so much in class but seeing it in real-time is an entirely different feeling. Also, love how the cell membrane just seals the gap up.

Why did the cells join the math class? Because they heard that mathematical models could help them to find their 'pathways' to success! 😅 #mathematicalmodelling #cellsignalling

Tonight I learnt The Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) that Australia invests just $64 per person each year into medical research. USA invests close to $300. Surely our nation's health is worth more than this paltry investment. Especially when the ROI is >3x.

Want to sequence RNA from cells without killing them or deliver RNA programs from cell to cell? Today in Cell, we present RNA exporters, which package and secrete cellular RNA, for non-destructively monitoring cell dynamics by sequencing and delivering RNA authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S00…

Excellent article. We thought the #MRFF would be the saviour of research and - by alleviating much of the translational research funding strain - the saviour of #NHMRC funded fundamental research in particular. An extreme disappointment. Put it in the NHMRC.

Can I just say that after having a (really solid) paper working its way through review for *3+ years* and *still* dealing with baseless criticism from reviewers, eLife sounds very attractive to me.

A breakthrough in improving the process of creating stem cells from regular cells, making them more similar to natural embryonic stem cells, which could have significant implications in medical research and treatments.

1/ New framework developed to predict 1) how #cancer exploits internal communication network flexibility to resist drugs & 2) how patient-to-patient differences may influence this ability. @lankhuyennguyen & 1st author Anthony Hart published in @elife. bit.ly/45MAQuj
