Would Trump try again to repeal and replace the ACA? Maybe, maybe not.

But, also important: What would he do with the enhanced subsidies Biden put in place that expire next year? They've led to record enrollment and improved affordability.

Been thinking about w/ the new DACA rule. New eligibility doesn't apply to Medicaid/CHIP, and so pregnant folks with incomes below poverty will end up in Marketplace plans, with very high cost-sharing and MOOPs -- $1800 in 94% AV plans. Need to dual enroll in Emergency Medicaid.

New from me in Pulse today: CMS estimates its nursing home staffing mandate will cost facilities $43 billion over 10 years. But they may not be the only ones paying that bill. States may have to raise Medicaid rates or face closures. politico.com/newsletters/po…

Larry Levitt Cynthia Cox Financial stress from medical debt like this is a set up for postpartum depression. There were nurses on my unit who had bill collectors calling to look for them bc of unpaid medical bills from pregnancy/birth at our own hospital.

Whether due to systems errors, worker training, or understaffing, states are cutting eligible people with disabilities from Medicaid home health services. Advocates say some states made no extra effort to accommodate them. usatoday.com/story/news/nat… via @usatoday & KFF Health News

That’s cool because being a new parent isn’t stressful in like a million other ways, so just add on some financial stress — I’m sure that’s good for maternal health.

NEW: Medical debt is a pervasive issue in the U.S., including for moms.

New mothers are twice as likely to have medical debt as other young women who haven't recently given birth.

NEW this am: New data shows medical students, for the second year in a row, were less likely to apply for residency positions in states with abortion bans and other significant abortion restrictions. And it’s not just aspiring OB-GYNs. From julie rovner and me kffhealthnews.org/news/article/m…

There is no question that poverty, racial injustice, inadequate housing, food insecurity, and gun violence affect people's health.

The harder question is what roles the health and public health systems can play in addressing them.

The report of the Medicare Trustees is now out. At a top level, the news is good.

Medicare still faces a long-term financing challenge, given an aging population and rising health costs.

There a lot to digest in the 261 page report, but here are a few nuggets⤵️
