Today, as we celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay, it is vital to reaffirm our commitment to protecting and preserving our planet for future generations. As wildfire season continues to worsen, we need a government that will take immediate steps to fight the #climatecrisis.

Thanks to Ecotrust Canada, CoastalFirstNations, and UFAWU-Unifor for meeting to discuss building sustainable BC #fisheries that work for communities. I urge Minister Diane Lebouthillier to listen to fishers, & commit to license reform that supports independent west coast owner-operators.

Happy #WorldOceansDay! Canada has the world’s longest coastline, and we all must do our part to protect it for future generations. I will continue to fight in Parliament for real solutions to the pressing issues impacting our oceans & the communities that rely on them.

The Liberals promised to lift Canadians with disabilities out of poverty, but $6 a day is so far from enough. Along with the rest of the NDP, I will continue to advocate for legislation that makes sure people living with disabilities are lifted out of poverty. #disabilityrights

June is #NationalBrainInjuryAwarenessMonth! 165k+ cases of brain injury are diagnosed each year but support services are fragmented & underfunded. I am proud to see bill C-277 recently pass unanimously in the House that will improve brain injury education, prevention & treatment.

Finally, word is out that the Liberals are moving open-net #fishfarms out of B.C. coastal waters. But where is the plan? The Liberals have spent years delaying on a real job strategy for all those impacted. First Nations and coastal communities cannot be left behind.
