3/ In the proposed regulations just about all colleges and university employees would be required to report any suspected sexual assault and sexual harassment even if the victim does not consent to a report being made. But we know consent matters so deeply! And. . .

4/ Furthermore, these regulations would require faculty and staff report about potential discrimination that they learned about second hand, such as from another student, family member, class assignment, social media, Take Back the Night event.

5/ So the student survivor could not speak about their experience without losing control of their privacy and story. Without losing autonomy. Research is so clear that regaining control and autonomy is essential to healing.

6/ This is in part due to the fundamental harm of sexual assault and harassment - a violation of autonomy. When the institution then follows that injury with another violation of autonomy that does damage. That is institutional betrayal. dynamic.uoregon.edu/jjf/institutio…

I can't believe it. Today, Shared Sisterhood is released into the wild! Dr. Tina Opie and I wrote this book on fighting racial and gender inequities at work because we could no longer wait for others to fix it. THANK you to everyone who has supported us. Let us know what you think!

An oldie but a goodie. If you want fairer evaluations, one step (but not the only step) is to agree on the criteria before you made a people decision. Stanford VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab #DiversityandInclusion

Such corruption was entirely predictable when Anita Hill was DARVOed instead of heeded. The same dynamic occurs in academia: unaddressed sexual harassment and institutional betrayal lead to institutional rot. We can fix this: institutionalcourage.org propublica.org/article/claren…
