Last weekend, Fashion City authors Bethan Bide and Dr Lucie Whitmore gave a talk at the Chalke History Festival! 👠 Get yourself a copy here, and discover the extraordinary stories of the Jewish people who designed, made and sold fashion in twentieth-century London: bloomsbury.com/uk/fashion-cit…

It’s the final weekend for #FashionCity! Your very last chance to see Dot & Di side by side, to dance in a 1960s menswear boutique, and to take the quickest ever journey on the Central Line 🪡

Today’s London Museum sparkle is from the mid-20th century. These costumes were worn by dancers at the famous Murray’s Cabaret Club in Soho. They are attributed to Murray’s head seamstress Elsie Birchmore 🌿

After seeing #FashionCity at London Museum Docklands, the The New York Times decided that Otto Lucas deserved a retrospective obituary. I'm so proud to have helped his story be better known: nytimes.com/2024/06/28/obi…

🎉 Huge announcement incoming 🎉 I am so excited to announce the release of something I've been working on for a couple months now. I have created a free toolkit called "So You Want To Build A Museum". Download the free toolkit here: floschechter.com/sywtbam 🧵

More Murray’s Cabaret Club costumes out today - but a lot less sparkle than last week! I can’t help question the sexiness of brown felt (sometimes unlined 😧) but I love the creativity on show here. All from London Museum 🤎

Yesterday I visited Charleston, cried over Vanessa Bell’s knitting basket and did some of my own knitting (by the pond) while thinking about Bell’s depiction of knitting in a painting of her sister, Virginia Woolf. It was glorious 🧶

I picked up this lovely vintage bowl in Brighton last weekend (for £5!!) and would love to know more about it. Anyone with dec arts knowledge able to advise on date/style? 🍒🍐🫐

Thanks for all the thoughts on this lovely piece! Here’s a close up of the feet and paintwork. Current date estimates have ranged from 1930s-1970s with some saying it’s French.

I really enjoyed the Lore of Loverboy exhibition at Somerset House. Great attention to detail in both the content and the exhibition design - a real treat to see some of these wonderfully textured pieces up close. It’s free, strongly recommend a visit!

I’m so excited to be going on a (slightly spontaneous) trip to New York next month! It’s been 12 years since my last visit. Please tell me everything I should see, do, eat and drink. I have just over a week! 🍎

Such an amazing response to this in the first 24 hours of sharing - thank you all! Please do share - we'd particularly like to reach younger people (16-25ish) with an interest in shopping second-hand, so if you have kids that use Depop/Vinted/other, we'd love to hear from them🙏
