Very proud to see the first paper from our lab published. Kudos to my team Félix Ramos-León , Matt Bush and Joe Sallmen. elifesciences.org/articles/63387. We describe a widely conserved cell division protein that directly affects Z-ring assembly in Streptomyces and Mycobacterium.
Very excited to share our latest preprint showing a role of contractile injection systems in mediating cell death in Streptomyces. Fantastic collaboration with the Pilhofer Lab. The work was spearheaded by casu_b with help from Joe Sallmen. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Mark Buttner’s last day John Innes Centre today. Mark has made huge contributions to our understanding of bacterial development, antibiotic biosynthesis and resistance and has been a fantastic head of dept. Wishing this legend of Streptomyces biology a very happy retirement. 1/2
Beyond thrilled to share that this July I will be moving to the Dept. of Microbiology Cornell University as an assistant professor. My lab will study the regulation and evolution of development in bacteria, with a particular focus on spore formation in my favorite organism, Streptomyces.
Dusting off this account to share my PhD paper! A massive thank you to clare stevenson Neil Holmes Matt Bush, Kim, Govind and Mark (and the Buttner lab) for supporting me through my Streptomyces era and contributing to this work! journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jb…
Join the crew and apply for a fully-funded PhD position in our lab John Innes Centre to study how multicellular bacteria control their cell cycle in response to DNA damage. For more information and how to apply 👉shorturl.at/ELN47.
