It has been pretty windy this week, but the excellent crew on the Barrule found a 20h window in which we got most of the sampling done. We got 40 sediment cores by sampling through the night. Very tiring obviously but it was worth it.

🚨 New Paper Alert! 🚨 Our 32-year study reveals temperature-independent shifts in subtidal benthic species composition, while traditional biodiversity indices remain stable. Other environmental factors may be more important. doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17… Lead: PhoebeArmitage

Another good trip on the #RVPrinceMadog of Ocean Sciences with Jan Geert Hiddink and his PhD student. Some highlights were these tiny sea cucumbers (Ocnus planci) and seeing the Trinity House Galatea at night.

Ever wondered how thresholds for good status in #marine ecosystem management are set? Look no further: Lorna McKellar gave a fantastic overview of statistical methods and how reliable (or not) threshold setting is using simulations.
