Nice poster presentation by McMaster Pediatric Surgery research student Jennifer Armstrong at #PAS2024. There is ongoing uncertainty regarding the use of Piptaz versus Ceftriaxone and Flagyl for children with perforated appendicitis. We need a properly blinded trial (coming soon!).

Another great day at #PAS2024 in Toronto! Our HEI Master’s student Hareshan Suntharalingam did a nice job presenting the results of his systematic review on the effects of exclusive breast milk among infants with gastroschisis. More studies on the way!

Fantastic teaching session with MacPICU 🇨🇦 on chest tubes by our graduating fellow, Dr. Fahd Alsaleh! He brought lots of equipment (and lots of enthusiasm!). Looking forward to celebrating him during our annual Visiting Professor event later this week.

Congratulations to our graduating fellow, Dr. Fahd “The Captain” Alsaleh! Fahd completed a Master of Health Education with MSc Health Sci Education (HSED) and is an amazing surgeon and teacher. He will do great work when he returns to K.I.M.S. to start his practice. We will miss you, Fahd!

Another full day of presentations at the CAPS Surgeons meeting in Halifax. Our HEI Master’s student Hareshan Suntharalingam generated lots of lively discussion with his presentation on enteral feeding practices for infants with gastroschisis. Nicely done!
