We’re thinking of starting a Celtic Eucharist. Ideas so far include Latin Mass at 6am, turning off the heat, public humiliation of penitents, and having people dress up like Vikings and burst in during (Latin) Matins to kill some of us. Still brainstorming.

Do people like the ACNA’s New Coverdale translation of the Psalter better than the 1979’s? I don’t usually mind 1979’s, but every now and again it’s obviously fudging. But I feel like I’m opposed to the de-LXXing of the Coverdale/not sure modernizing it would work well

To that end, I find that the new entry in the St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology by D. N. Keane is an excellent introduction to the important issues. Well done. saet.ac.uk/Christianity/T… /2

I’m taking Greek Exegesis of Hebrews with Ross Wagner this semester, and it’s such a blast. This volume is particularly Amazon wonderful. Essay after essay showing the Church’s confessions are reasonable and accurate explorations of the Christology already in nuce in the NT

“The earliest christology was already in nuce the highest christology… If Jesus was integral to the identity of God, he must have been so eternally… Jesus cannot function as God without being God.” Richard Bauckham in _The Epistle to the Hebrews and Christian Theology_

Why do people always use Ps 51:5 (Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.) as a protect for original sin/concupiscence? I fail to see the connection. It doesn’t seem to be talking about the moral state of the child but of its parents?

Planning on preaching on Wisdom 1 on Sept. 22—any good resources on Wisdom of Solomon or on this passage? I'm really excited to talk about the Apocrypha and connecting it to Plato's prophesy, but other than that I don't have lots of examples of how to gospel that passage

Does anyone have access to the CofE's Revised Psalter 1963/4 that CS Lewis and Eliot were involved with? It's impossible to find online, or at my library. The ACNA BCP claims to have drawn on it, and I want to compare.

It’s so interesting that in America the BCP is public domain but in England they copyright the hell out of all their liturgical books
