In 2019, the Government of China through CIDCA provided $1 million to support UNICEF’s humanitarian aid to children & families affected by Cyclone Idai in Malawi.  The aid improved their lives in many ways including their health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene.

In Malawi, UNICEF China Ambassador Roy Wang met 5-year-old Laymon. In 2019, Cyclone Idai destroyed his family’s home.  With support from China CIDCA, UNICEF helped Laymon recover from malnutrition & provided mosquito nets to protect him & his family from malaria.

🌟Mary (30) smiles while playing with her daughter, Happiness (5) in Mukwala Village. Last year, after Cyclone Freddy devastated their home, Happiness fell ill and was diagnosed with malnutrition. Thanks to UNICEF and partners, Happiness received life-saving care. 💙
