Let's not forget that it is within the powers of big bands to keep tickets affordable, rein in resales and exorbitant fees and generally kick Ticketmaster's arse for its venal behaviour – as demonstrated by Robert Smith. Many simply choose not to. theguardian.com/music/2023/mar…
Great piece by Manori Ravindran writing for Screen on the rise of the 'standing ovation' story at film festivals. Worth at least 12 minutes of applause...
At Cannes, standing ovations have always been long — but they used to be rare. They’re now ubiquitous there, as well as Venice + there’s a drive to establish them at TIFF. What does the industry think about ovations — and do they have any influence at all? screendaily.com/features/measu…

I first heard Simon Albury booming voice on Radio 4 newsroom berating them for being so white. An amazing supportive voice around media diversity in the UK. A generous, kind, knowledgeable man. I will miss him terribly. Condolences to his loved ones. RIP broadcastnow.co.uk/home/tributes-…
RIP Simon Albury! I'm very saddened by this news. He was an advocate for media diversity who used his voice to make a difference. A gentleman who always had a kind/insightful word. He went out of his way to help me & others. I'll forever cherish our chats broadcastnow.co.uk/home/tributes-…
In case you heard The Ankler referenced in today's @RestIsEnts, here's the story they're talking about, on the death of mid-market TV budgets and what it means for our future factual juggernauts. theankler.com/p/death-mid-bu…
The recent race riots exposed a clear failing in how UK media represents Black, Asian, Muslim and immigrant communities. Great to be featured in the latest The TV Collective podcast, dedicated to Simon Albury. shows.acast.com/65e4a3461b2432…
