Does computery stuff, now having fun with my EASA PPL(A) as often as possible. Now pondering the next step! Revisiting my childhood love of aviation!

Last night's view of the International Space Station as it flew over the UK at ~04:07 UTC - perhaps my best capture to date. Dragon's fins, Starliner's thruster groups and the cupola are nicely seen. There are even 'hints' of the Japanese flag on the Kibล module! #astrophotography #telescope

40 years ago today Space Shuttle Discovery made its maiden flight, launching on its first missionโ€”STS-41-D. In total, six unique Space Shuttle orbiters were built but Discovery stands out with the greatest flight history record: 39 missions and 365 total days spent in space:

One of my favorite bits of a great Star Trek: SNW episode is this 20 second space battle oner. In the actual episode they keep intercutting to shots of the bridge crew so it's not obvious that the whole engagement and its aftermath was one shot. Great camera choreography!

58 years ago today... For the first time, the USS Enterprise appeared on the screen. It was the beginning of a long story: Star Trek. ๐Ÿ––

Sure. But kids donโ€™t get shot in EU schools. And medical problems donโ€™t bankrupt you. Also GDP is so vulgar. Much more to life than money.

Very saddened to hear of the passing away of James Earl Jones. โ€œNow son, you heard that torpedo hit the hull, and I was never hereโ€ฆโ€

This morning's view of #Jupiter & #Ganymede from home. Perhaps one of my best to date given the current distance to the planet. Excellent conditions allowed the phase and surface features of Ganymede to be well-resolved. The Great Red Spot is also seen rising on the eastern limb.

Another day, another #ISS image! The International Space Station as it flew over the UK a couple of hours ago, captured with my 16" scope. This pass actually featured an orbital sunset - check the thread for the timelapse!
