Morning! I’m Molly Boot (Molly Boot), a first year curate in rural Gloucestershire — it’s lovely to be back here. I think the last time was the week lockdown was announced… no life-shattering national events this week, I hope!

Such a joy to be in Snape maltings today! With such strong childhood memories of the place, it's magic to be singing here for the first time, especially as it's with The Sixteen. Back to St Mary Magdalen Oxford tomorrow.

Absolutely splendid worship Great St Bartholomew, West Smithfield for Palm Sunday. Uplifting & excellent music & liturgy. Good après mass too. Good to chat with Marcus Walker over coffee. He’s doing some really excellent things & there must have been almost 300 at mass this morning

...as was the Gabrieli Missa Brevis. The choir's well established expertise in Byrd was demonstrated in the motet Quomodo cantabimus; and Ian Tindale gave us superbly appropriate Bach on the organ (BWV 727 and 538ii) Many thanks to all! Will Dawes St Mary Magdalen Oxford 🎶

Hearing Stainer's 'God so Loved the world' sung by Mary Mags Choir today was like seeing a stained glass window for the first time after cleaning: the accretions of exaggerated emphases and other choirmasterly affectations so often heard were washed away; it was radiant, glorious...

final hymn. In fact the whole service (for Lent 1) seemed especially well integrated (Lenten prose, 40 days and 40 nights, lovely JSB on the organ) and I can only say how grateful we are to the musicans and clergy for providing such a profound experience Will Dawes Ian Tindale
