“An imaginative, functional work like this is likely to have a lasting shelf-life. “Fantasia” certainly has.”
Thank you to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jeremy Reynolds for this review of Philharmonia Fantastique with Pittsburgh Symphony!

How cool is this!? U.S. Air Force Band just played Mothership under Colonel Don Schofield! Mothership imagines the orchestra as a spaceship - which seems quite fitting. Wishing I could have been there to cheer them on and super honored to have been programmed!
On Monday night, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago joined forces with Grammy Award-winning sextet Eighth Blackbird for a program of contemporary music led by Lina González-Granados, anchored by Mason Bates' mystical Anthology of Fantastic Zoology.

What a great overview of a phenomenal year in music in the Bay Area. I attended some of these concerts but not all of them, so I’m thankful for this superb look at the highlights! And thanks, San Francisco Chronicle, for the Steve Jobs Shoutout! 🙌

Great profile on Joseph Lattanzi, who is bringing to life the role of Paul Jobs so beautifully at San Francisco Opera ... sounds like he likes the electronic part too!

This fantastic album by Capella SF, featuring Mason Bates‘s Mass Transmission, is now available on Apple Music! I was honored to conduct the world premiere performances with SF Symphony Chorus, Young People’s Chorus of New York City and Paul Jacobs in SF and in Carnegie Hall in 2012.
