When I compare my previous years while being in Oklahoma (since 2016), I can confirm this year has been pretty active in terms of chasing days, but most of these tornadoes were either nocturnal or rain-wrapped 🌪️🌧️.

7 years ago it was Poland that was traversed by a destructive derecho. It had a core of especially damaging winds, as shown on this figure from Mateusz Taszarek 🇵🇱 🇺🇸 et al.: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/…. The 3 radar loops here show evolution of this system, with focus on strongest part.

Apart from the paper itself (which is very nice), I like a concept of BS for ULmax and LLmax layers. This is really smart idea of calculating shear that can help to extract a little bit of additional skill compared to fixed layers. Will definitely add those parameters (and LTTP)
