Unbeaten NZ pacing mare Millwood Nike ruled out of NZ Cup, for which she is third favourite. Now trained in the north by Mark Purdon as part of a two-horse team, Millwood Nike is on comeback after tendon tear and Purdon says Cup is definite no so early in her potential comeback

Leading horsewoman Sarah O'Reilly was injured driving trackwork at Ashburton today. Won't be driving this weekend and won't be for some time. More updates to come when Sarah is ready to tell them. Wishing her all the best.

Loss of voice aside, very cool to be part of Friday Night Lights on Trackside NZ last night for the first time for TAB NZ - great to see such awesome coverage of harness racing and play a small role in hopefully driving turnover.

"He's really come on since last week's win and his work has been great. It's just a shame about the draw. He's a really genuine horse though so with luck we're sure he'll run a big race."- Stacey White on Kiwi hope Major Hot The Creek tomorrow night. Harness Racing NZ

Stonewall Stud stars BD Joe and Ohoka Connor step out in public today at Ashburton for their first public run. Handy field too with Anything Goes and Pinseeker also in attendance. The National Handicap - the first traditional step toward the Cup - is held next Friday night.

"We need to be running 27 quarters," - Brad Steele You can't say that Brad Steele has come into the top job at HRNZ and taken his time to settle into things. He's hit the ground running and playing his part in making some much needed change.

If you had a two-year-old trotter at home, I would imagine there would be something quite intimidating about this field at the Oamaru trials tomorrow.

Wee Monday throwback. The first public appearance of Christian Cullen. Driven by one mark jones Couldn't drive him raceday as only held a trials licence at that stage. The rest, as they say, is history. youtu.be/-xZAh48rvFc?si…

I'd imagine that it would be a real struggle to get out of bed in the morning knowing they were the four horses you had to go and work. 🀣

I ask it each year. And I'm going to ask it again in 2024. Addington's 3200m distance has a field limit of 16, yet we only allow 15 horses to start in both the NZ Trotting Cup and Dominion Handicap. Why?

Surely there are more important matters at hand for the board to be discussing than a couple of drivers having a chat while doing a prelim. Does it extend to a driver looking left, or right, dependent on track, and telling another that the lead is not there? Laughable IMO.

Professional return to racing from a quality trotting filly in Empire City. Ricky May and Phil Williamson having a bit of a run at the moment. Fear And Faith the run of the race, she's a serious contender for races like the Oaks later in the season with that kind of speed.
